Temporary Gallery

High School Art Display

(This exhibit was housed in the temporary gallery during the month of March 2012.)

The temporary exhibit gallery at the El Quartelejo Museum is hosting the artwork of students from the Scott Community High School art program.  Chuck Ellis is the long-time art teacher at SCHS, as well as directing the electrorally (electric car racing) project.  His students perform very well at regional and state art competitions on a yearly basis.  Please stop by to peruse the offerings brought to the temporary gallery by these talented young people of our community.  The exhibit will be in the museum through the end of March 2012. The Great West Activities League Art Show will be in Ulysses during the first week of April. Chuck will be taking these pieces, as well as many others, to display there.

The works featured at the El Quartelejo Museum are award winners from the Western Kansas Scholastic Art Competition, recently held at Montezuma. Over 400 works were entered from high schools across the area. Of those, approximately 200 were chosen for display.

Zach Duff received one of five "American Vision" awards for his ceramic container. There are 50 "Gold Key" awards given, with Zach and Taylor Brown each receiving the honor for their paintings.

SCHS students receiving "Silver Keys" were Kadra Boulware, and Chandra Martin. Earning "Honorable Mentions" were Oscar Amezcua, Kadra Boulware, Taylor Brown, Zach Duff, Taylor George, Chandra Martin, Laura Puente, and Jamie Tilton.
