Jane Rhoads, Kansas author and speaker, will present "Bronco Bustin' Showmen and their Spectacular Wild West Shows" at the annual meeting of the Scott County Historical Society on Sunday, April 27th, at 2 p.m. at the El Quartelejo Museum/Jerry Thomas Gallery and Collection. 

"Wild West shows at the turn of the 20th century delighted audiences in the United States and abroad.  A surprising number of skilled cowboys and breathtaking shows originated in the Great Plains region.  This presentation highlights famous western entertainers including Will Rogers, Pawnee Bill, Tom Mix, and Lucille Mulhall.  A reccuring thread throughout all of these shows was Buffalo Bill Cody, the father of western entertainment."
